SSP-160 Super Scientific Processor

Texas Memory Systems, Inc.

SSP-160 Super Scientific Processor is a single-board, 160 MFLOPS arrayprocessor, which is installed into the SAM-2 (8 GB, 500 MB per second)memory system.SSP-160 is comprised of two separate processors, designated CP (controlprocessor) and MP (microcode processor). MP is made up of fourarithmetic units that perform both integer and floating-point operations. Also, MP has 1.5 MB of high-speed, multiported memory, organized intoinput/output and local/global memories. With simultaneous access to allof these memories, the four arithmetic units can be utilized mostefficiently. While MP is processing data, CP is performing all overheadfunctions, such as program loading, I/O control, master SSP-160coordination, debug control and communication with the host computer. All program development is performed on the host computer in eitherFORTRAN or Microcode. Linked object code, which also includes requiredMath Library routines, are downloaded and executed on SSP-160 through anEthernet.
